Songwriting

These thoughts had been with me for a few days, when after a night thinking of lyrics, I got up and wrote a song. Well why not? I can't read or write music, can't sing, can't dance, but what the heck!

A few weeks later the words were still with me and I had begun to sing the words to myself, to the tune of a mid nineties hit recording. It sounded OK to me, not that I was biased of course, so, next, I rang one or two music recording people, who for a reasonable charge could make your dreams come true and record your piece.

By the time I got to the small studio I had come up with my own tune, which I could hum, but of course not write down. I was hoping that the resident singer at the studio would sing my song, but for probably a very good reason, like the song being rubbish, she was unavailable. Now what? "Sing it yourself", said the recording guy.

Oh well, I had come this far, so with no practice, two backing singers  (the drummer and the recording guy)  we made the recording. I like it, I have not had the nerve to sent it to anyone in the music business, after all they get thousands every day, but I have heard one of the kids play it on their ipod, which is very gratifying. The local community radio also played it several times, without audience complaint!  If curious download my song, send in some not too unkind comments, and if I can do it, I'm sure you can do a lot better. You may even feel inspired to add a bit of polish to my song!

Time to go, I feel a song coming on!
